More About Us

Private Tutoring Service

Lessons are individually tailored to each student and designed to encourage a life-long love of learning.  Techniques used aim to reduce “forgetting” and encourage long-term “remembering” of key information, thereby resulting in a rewarding learning experience.

Cate is usually very busy during all hours outside of the UK school day so we recommend getting in touch early, although we will always endeavour to help if we can.   We can often find space for students in other time zones such as Hong Kong, Singapore, UAE, Malaysia, Western Australia, China.

Our Testimonials

"Thank you again, it's amazing how much this has worked for my son. He now has a new passion for French down to you."

"It’s only been 3 months but I’ve been so impressed with Shays confidence and willingness to speak French. He can’t wait for his weekly lessons and is so enthusiastic about it all. Last week said it all for me. A native french friend came over with her 8 year old. Listening to the 2 boys chattering away in French (ok there was some correction needed by Charlie) was totally amazing.

Having 3 children of her own, Madame Taylor certainly gets the best out of Shay, even on his tired days. She comes highly recommended."

I have very much enjoyed learning from Cate as she teaches me Spanish for the IB program. Throughout my learning journey, she has been supporting me, guiding me, and always providing me with the tools to feel more confident in communicating with others in Spanish. Whenever I come across challenges, Cate explains the theory in a way that I can understand it and apply it conversationally. Thank you, Cate!

SC, WIS ESF, Hong Kong [Spanish IB]

Cate has been an amazing tutor for my son who is right now doing IBDP1 Spanish. Not only he has been improving his grammar and building relevant vocabulary, he has also been developing appreciation for the culture of the Spanish-speaking countries and generally showing more interest in the subject.

NC, Hong Kong, parent and teacher [Spanish IB]

My child has been going to Tutor Taylor for a number of years now. Cate was immensely helpful towards my sons success, straight A’s throughout year 8.  My son insisted that he continue after he joined his new school and now Cate teaches him French and Spanish.

Cate is a patient tutor who paces lessons to challenge but not to overwhelm, making the lessons fun and engaging.

I strongly recommended Tutor Taylor services to all parents/guardians especially if they have a desire to study the subjects further. We will certainly continue towards his GCSE exams.

RG, New Forest [French and Spanish]

Cate has been fantastic for my son and really targeted areas to support him in preparing for his GCSE. He has really enjoyed the sessions and it has helped his confidence hugely.

Mrs K, Sway [GCSE Spanish]

EM, Highcliffe [adult learner, French]

Cate has been a wonder with my two girls giving them the support, focus and extra confidence in their english and maths. She is calm, creative and adaptive in her approach to two very different personalities and it is much appreciated. I would definitely recommend!

JW, Milford on Sea [daughters, aged 9 & 11 tutored, English]

Cate is very professional but approachable and makes English fun. My son enjoys going to her sessions and finds them very helpful. Cate has given him plenty of tips as well as useful general advice on how to tackle exam papers. I can highly recommend Cate to anyone.

K O [son tutored - English GCSE]

I can’t recommend this tutor highly enough.

Thank you so much Cate Taylor for your patience, engagement, technique and thorough planning....and results!!

My son is dyslexic and only scored a grade 2 in his English mock results - he was therefore awarded a GCSE grade 3 in the summer 2020 (without sitting an exam) and had to retake.

I entered him into the retake in November and with literally 7 weeks tutoring with zoom lessons twice a week with Cate Taylor, Tom sat the GCSE English exams at the start of November (he is one of a minority of teenagers who have physically sat exams during the pandemic) and he has just been awarded an amazing grade 5 by the exam board

I am literally over the moon for Tom, as he has struggled with English for so long and he wanted this so much. It is an amazing achievement for him and thank you again Tutor Taylor.

I can highly recommend.

P H-K, New Milton [son tutored - English GCSE]

MC, Lymington  [GCSE Spanish student]

Cate is a superb tutor, since having lessons with you our daughter's confidence has increased as have her grades. Thank you Cate, she could not have done it without you.

NW, Lymington [GCSE English language and literature)

Cate has been a fantastic support to both my daughter's understanding of French grammar and speaking & listening in French. Her calm, patient, encouraging and engaging teaching style has been much appreciated and my daughter always comments on how helpful and enjoyable her sessions are; reflected in her renewed enthusiasm for the subject and improved results at school. Thank you Cate.

Cate has ignited a love for French in my children.  They now speak it spontaneously at home and are learning and retaining language and vocabulary.  Cate is a patient, kind and supportive teacher, who can adapt to different learning styles and really get the best out of the lesson time.

CW, Lymington  [son and daughter tutored for French]

My daughter is in Year 5 and has been going to Cate Taylor for maths tutorials since September 2019. In her words: "Mrs Taylor makes maths so much easier to understand", "she is really friendly", "I am excited to go to my lesson and find out what I am going to learn today", "she's just really amazing!"

AB, Hordle  [daughter tutored for maths]
